About Us
Ironworks is a Nova Scotia's very first micro-distillery, established in 2009 and located in the old port of Lunenburg on Nova Scotia’s historic South Shore. We take our name from the 1893 heritage building we call home: a marine blacksmith’s shop built by the Walters family at the corner of Kempt & Montague where three generations of smithies once produced ironworks for the shipbuilding trade. We craft our spirits with the same love of traditional methods and attention to detail.
Our original goal was to distill artisan spirits using produce grown right here in the province. Every season we use more than 50,000 lbs of fruit and berries from Nova Scotia for a total investment in the local farming community of more than $150,000. Our rum is made with Crosby's molasses which we ferment, distill and age right here in Lunenburg.
